  We have a 27 month old Qashqai bought from here as a Demonstrator Model. Its clutch burnt-out on the Keighley by-pass and I was nearly killed. We have been reporting a lack of synchronisation between the automatic brake release and the acceleration causing a 'holding-back' on the drive system plus the most alarming smell of burning since before it was a year old; nobody really wanted to know in the Service Department. We were told that they thought the clutch could be slipping but nothing could be done about it until it 'went'! The cause has been diagnosed as Driver Error (by Nissan, of course!) and we have had to pay a huge bill of over £1,600. We have been told that if the clutch goes again, even under guarantee, and it is diagnosed as Driver Error then Nissan will not pay.Apparently nearly all manufacturers practice this Big Clutch Con..I have been driving for 47 years and never had a clutch fail and I still have no idea what I have done wrong. Nobody has offered to explain or show me how to avoid Driver Error. Common sense tells us all that a clutch should not be burning-out in a relatively new car; just be aware of this before you read all the hype around the Qashqai. It certainly has some extras but if the components are burning out, causing potentially lethal situations then think again. Check your 3 Year Warranty with the garage and ask specifically about the automatic brake/ drive system.Buyer Beware! because you won't get any support from the garage or Nissan.
